Photographer in a Covid-19 World

Let’s face it…life as we’ve known has changed a lot in the last month. Most of us are handling this pandemic in the best way we know how and taking precautions to protect ourselves and the ones around us. After getting over the initial stress of session cancellations and uncertain closures, I realized that the best way to get through this time at home is to stay productive and make plans for the future.

I’ve made some personal goals like reading books and getting back into to drawing and painting (hello dusty Fine Arts Degree). Professionally I’m hoping to catch up on blogging, finish my taxes, and take in a few online courses. Although most portrait sessions are on hold for the next bit, I’m also taking this time to plan and strategize ideas for future photo sessions. Do you have a fun idea for a themed photoshoot, or a location you’ve always wanted to visit? Have you been putting off family photos because of busy schedules but now have the time? Does your website need an overhaul and require updated office photos or headshots? Now’s the time to start planning and being proactive. Once life starts getting back to normal, it’ll be full steam again.

Winter in the Riverbottom

I completely understand that some sessions such as maternity and newborn can’t be postponed. I’m tentatively booking outdoor photoshoots starting April 20th, and indoor sessions starting in May. Spring is the perfect time for outdoor photos as flowers begin to bloom and everything is finally green again. Plus thanks to my favorite long zoom lens, I can continue to do my part to practise physical distancing! I am also offering additional booking flexibility, with transferable deposits should session dates need to change.

I have been so fortunate to have supportive family, friends, and clients to check in on me and make sure I’m okay. I hope I can also offer assistance or help to the people in my personal and professional circle. If you feel overwhelmed and want to chat over the phone, or just need someone to pick up groceries, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to help in any way I can!
