My Favorite Photo Locations in Lethbridge
Are you looking for some location ideas for your wedding, family photos, or portrait session? Here's a list of some awesome Lethbridge outdoor locations that I use for many of my portrait sessions:
Cottonwood Park (West Lethbridge) - This location has amazing views of the Old Man River, and is a short drive west on Metis Trail. It has wonderful trails and trees, although it's a bit of a steep hike down and up from the parking lot. It makes for a good afternoon hike too!
Aperture Park (West Lethbridge) - This small park is located next to the University and has a small pond and tons of trees. In fall, the colors are amazing and it's often less busy than other parks. Parking is limited and you’ll have to park at the University and walk over.
Lethbridge Research Station (South Lethbridge) - Just a short drive south of Lethbridge, this location has large trees and is well landscaped during the summer. Although pre-booking is required, this is a popular wedding venue and great quiet location with lots of flowers and weeping willows!
Indian Battle Park (South Lethbridge) - Although a very popular photo spot, I love that you don't feel like you're in a city anymore when you visit this location. On windy days, this is a great areas with large sheltering trees and many different views. Plus north of the bridge is the Nature Centre which features numerous less-traveled trails.
Alexander Wilderness Park (North Lethbridge) - This is a very versatile locations, with sheltered old trees and also some areas with views of the Old Man River and coulees. Just remember, no dogs or bikes allowed.
Peenaquim Park (North Lethbridge) - This location has amazing sunsets and some great treed areas. As it’s part of the dog park area, you’ll have to be okay with watching your step and the occasional friendly dog greeting.
Nicholas Sheran Park (West Lethbridge) - This medium sized lake is located near the University, and has wooden bridges, evergreens, and some cherry trees. It can often be quite busy, and it also has a disc golf course that might require sharing the open spaces.
Popson Park (West Lethbridge) - One of my latest favorite locations, this riverbottom location is large, and has open areas and treed areas, with amazing sunsets and a rocky riverbottom. You’ll just have to watch out for rattlesnakes, friendly dogs from the dog park, and maneuvering the rocky shores requires comfortable footwear.
A good photographer will spend hours scouting out different locations, and is able to determine the best location for your session depending on time of year, weather, mobility, etc. If you’d like to book a session with me, I’d be happy to send you even more great ideas for your session!
